If you're unable to get in, try http://207.57.78.179  . That's the address of the new monster server. It was accessible to international viewers before it went down, so hopefully that nightmare is past us.

Still having problems with certain anti-virus firewalls blocking it (I'm looking at you, Norton) but it's back.

Except the video fails if you use the IP, because the referer doesn't work.

You can get around this.

Quote:
for those of you who are still having trouble accessing the site (it can take awhile for their changes to propagate everywhere) there's a trick you can do to watch this now without waiting.

on windows, open a file called "hosts" in your \windows\system32\drivers\etc folder. in this file add the following line (without the "Code:"):

Code:
207.57.78.179   www.drhorrible.com

this essentially tricks your computer into believing that www.drhorrible.com points to the monster server, instead of using the old server that crashed. save the hosts file, and simply browse to http://www.drhorrible.com/

hopefully this will let a few of you see this and not have to keep chomping at the bit. =)

Changing to OpenDNS

In the alternative, you can use OpenDNS's settings for your Domain Name Server entries.

On Win XP, go to your Network Connections -- right-click on the connection and get Properties; scroll to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and select Properties. Use the following DNS server addresses:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I've checked, and OpenDNS has the updated domain rapido.

Having said that, it looks like HULU.com is being grousy -- even when clicked through DrHorrible.com, one gets "This video is not available at this site."

You can also do this to view the video through hulu directly if you have Firefox and the refspoof plugin. Go to this url in your browser:

http://www.hulu.com/drhorrible/hgb2ti3Z ... YmEb1SF_sz

and put the referrer in the spoofbar as: drhorrible.com

For PC users

Your computer also keeps a cache of the DNS entries it's looked up recently rather than looking again. If your DNS servers have updated (and if not, they should really soon -- doesn't take 2 days to propagate like it used to), you can flush your DNS cache. It's safe and easy on a PC. Dunno about an Apple.

On Windows, click Start, then Run...
Type (without quotes) "ipconfig /flushdns" and press Enter. You can do this as often as you want.

Linux/UNIX/Ubuntu/etc. people already know how to flush DNS (or should know how because, if they don't, they shouldn't be using UNIX).

I never could get that to work.

Great idea -- just installed the latest RefSpoof plug-in (here ) but still no bueno for me. Is it working for you?

Maybe Hulu is unhappy with the traffic Whedon fans have generated-- 'cause that site is totally lagged out now, too.

See, Dr. Horrible really has destroyed the internets.

I'm looking at it right now. Put the whole hulu url into your location bar then put drhorrible.com into the spoof bar then click on spoof so that the spoof button is pressed down.
