We (and a lot of other fansite webmasters) have been given the opportunity to ask Joss Whedon some questions about Serenity. He is going to try to answer as many as he can.

If you have burning questions, post them here and we'll forward them.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SERENITY ONLY!

Joss, how often do you lurk on whedonesque.com?

With the success of the comic book--when will Dark Horse announce another mini-series,or dare I say a regular series ?
Also, do you like soup?

If Alexa Davalos had been available to appear in the fifth season of 'Angel' would you have bought back the character of Gwen, and what would you have done with the character if so?

Assuming that Serenity does well at the Box Office (Of course it will!), do you think that it will affect the current trend networks 'seem' to have for axing shows before they really have a chance to build an audience?

Joss, I love your directorial style in Serenity. Who/what inspires you as a director? And how did you prepare for directing your first motion picture? Did you watch any specific movies/study any specific director beforehand to get ideas about what you wanted Serenity to look like? Did you use story-boarding?

A related question: what surprised you, if anything, about directing a movie, compared to directing TV? (aside from, you know, more work...)

Joss, am I crazy, or is there always a 'symbol' in the way your characters die or suffer, Tara having her heart exploded by a bullet, meaning the crushing of Willow's, Xander having his eye badly poked as he is the one who sees, Fred being eaten from the inside leaving nothing but a shell compared to how Wesley was eaten inside by guilt and dark feelings, and so on...

Will it always be like that with you (you sadist!)?

Given the inherent difficulty in squeezing nine main characters and a complex backstory culled from fourteen episodes of a cancelled cult television series into a two-hour film, what elements do you most regret having to lose or compress heavily?
