I'm going insane waiting until more people have this DVD and turn their giant collective brain to the easter eggs and whatever else. I know, I know, it's churlish to complain about getting the DVD earlier than most people. I should be slapped for that.

Anyway, I thought that since the "Horrible DVD" thread has long disappeared off the front page, it'd be good to have a "Horrible DVD-Easter Eggs" thread here. I've had almost no time to pursue the eggs myself, but with the help of some of the folks in the black was able to find the following "egg" - or is it an egg, really? It's more a several steps process that leaps beyond the DVD onto google, then leaps back into the DVD at a different point from where it started:

a. Activate the Wiccan subtitles and start watching "Dr. Horrible"
b. Wait for the "Wiccan" subtitles to get going...they soonish say, "Enter @ [a loooooooong number]."
c. The "looooooong number" when plugged directly into Google comes up with an ISBN for Mariah Carey's "Music Box" album. Shudder. But lo! It is relevant. For in the second "Making Of" featurette, the "The Music" featurette, Felicia Day says at some point that she sometimes sounds like "Mariah Carey."
d. If you hit the "enter" button on your DVD remote control right when Felicia says "Mariah Carey," you suddenly see an Evil League of Evil countdown screen, counting down from 5 to 1 (if I remember correctly). Then you are taken back to the special features menu (I think.)

What does it all mean? Does the "egg" end there? Or is there a further, deeper layer? Are the many other eggs that others have hinted at in the DVD meant to somehow work together to some larger purpose? (Insert evil laugh here.)

I know others quickly found the above egg, as well as some other egg relevant to Moist. Anyone care to post instrux to the Moist egg and any others here? Many of us have noted also that on the back of the DVD packaging, there is an interesting logo that says, "Count the Letters U+L-R-D." Hmmm. This must refer to the yellow-colored letters in the "Making of" Featurette credits, mustn't it? Or? The "U+L+R+D" suggests that we're supposed to go to an "url?" Or?

Don't read this if you want to figure it out for yourself. Though honestly, I still can't figure out the logic of it.

For the above easter egg, hit '5' and then enter during the countdown. I believe this is the ELE clip.

Easter egg #2:
a. Watch the credits for the Making of featurettes.
b. Look for all the yellow letters.
c. They spell out 'Enter at Act 2'
d. Play the movie and skip to the beginning of Act 2.
e. Hit enter as soon as the title comes up.
f. During the countdown, hit '5' and then enter.
g. Watch the HammerJoss.

Easter egg#3:
a. Go to scene selection.
b. In Act 2, there is a fake chapter called "Moist dries up"
c. This leads to another countdown.
d. Hit '6' and then enter.
e. Watch outtakes.

Unfortunately, you can't rewind or pause the clips. Rewatching them requires going through some of the process again.

Also, if you push left and enter while selecting the trailer, the dvd credits pop up.

hacksaway, you are a saint among men (or women, or horses). Thank you for saving me from bashing my head against the wall!

God, that ELE interview clip was brilliant...

Very cool, hacksaway. Thanks for that. When I next am with my DVD I shall follow your procedures. I might usually try to figure these things out entirely on my own but these eggs seem like they're more fun to figure out collectively. Or just be told! They're that weird. Has anyone seen anything like these eggs before? My experience of DVD eggs is it's pretty much a one-step or at most two-step process. Not like this.

Another clue: what images are lurking in the FBI-to-ELE screen transformation when you first pop the DVD in? There is something there but I must get around to playing the DVD with Quicktime to look frame-by-frame. I think one of the images is of the ELE conference table with the assorted evildoers sitting around. But there's more there...

Also, is there anything to the gigantic number that Steve Berg sings in his song? Or is that just funny?

Finally (for now), what is with that series of numbers separated by dots or periods on the back of the DVD box?

Yeah, there's a graphic with 3 ovals colored the same as the countdowns. There are some markings inside them, but I couldn't figure out what if anything they meant. I basically just worked out the codes by keying in random numbers.

I assumed the Commentary! music writing and the dvd making were separate processes, so I don't think the number is a clue.

The numbers on the box, I'm not sure.

Oh thank you! Now I must go and see if I can open these....

eta
no longer happy, I have no numbers on my remote control...
so hitting a 'five' or a '6' is not possible
surely there is another way?

I tried watching on my computer screen but the numbers on there don't seem to have any effect either...
*sigh*

Anyone else having this problem?

Do you have an options button or something that goes to a number panel? There must be some way to do it... Do you have a universal remote? Most cable remotes are.

Took this from the Doctor Horrible fan site:

My brother figured out how to access all but the outtakes with a regular DVD player. Once you get to the countdown, press 5 (he got it from that number sequence — 2.7.12 … — which starts arithmetically, adding 5 to 2 and then to 7; that's probably not where the 5 is supposed to come from, though), and you should see the scene (from the Act II countdown) or the interviews (from the Mariah Carey cue).

Could you please post the numbers on the back of the box to take a look?

They also said that if you count the letters U, D, L, & R in each of the eggs, you get:

Doctor Horrible head = 6
Wonderflonium briefcase = 5
Professor Normal head = 5

That would be great. Thanks!

I'm pushing the numbers in the right places and the wrong things are happening! Argh!!

Pushing 6 on the Moist Dries Up countdown is just taking me back to the start of Act II.

Hitting Enter when Act II starts goes nowhere, I just get "This function is not available" when I press Enter anywhere around there.

And hitting 5 on the Mariah Carey countdown just takes me back into the feature.

Be careful to only hit enter once after the five or six. I was impatient and hit enter a couple of times which will kick you out to the menu again.
