I'm also fine with "From your fans at Whedonesque" or something similar. Having sometimes been in the position of not being able to donate money to things like this, I wouldn't want people to be excluded just because they are not able to donate at the moment.

Thanks to bobw1o and quotergal for their efforts.

I second this. But I'm also on board with the binder idea with sigs and/or pithy messages from those who wish to add those AFTER the original cake and card are delivered.

I see most people have donated $10, is that the minimum? I'd really like to donate, but it's tough to find the funds right now.

JTown, there is no minimum. People on the black were saying they were going to donate $10 and that seemed a nice round number. :D I think anything you want to donate is fine, keeping in mind that PayPal takes a percentage. If you can't donate right now, that's okay, too.

Honestly? I only gave $5USD - there are so many worthy causes all clamoring for my money right now, and this is for a cake that had so many people contributing - that $5 felt appropriate for me.

As Sammy said - there's no minimum, and no one should ever feel like they must give more than they want to.

And there's no judging in the Dollhouse.

So most of the poll results seem to have pretty clear winners. Even if the amount of voters doubles in the next few days, I don't expect the results to change much. That is, except for the delivery date. That one seems to be a close call.

So far we have:

5 "Pod" cakes
Thank You For Always Being Your Best
Printed names, choice of real/screen
No pictures
Deliver after Turkey Day

I'm gonna be honest, i didn't think the pod cakes would win. The result would be cool, but having a space and getting them to it might be too much of a hassle. Even if they're each 12" long, they're gonna require a special set-up. Whether I bring a card table (anyone got one?) or push some tables together while I'm there. Also, it'll likely be more expensive, which is fine, but means less money for charity for indulgence. But I'll take a look at the logistics and see what happens.

As far as names and such (as the guy that opened the can of worms on that), I see no issue with doing it. The fact that this is all about them is exactly why it would be a bonus. They know they have fans. They know people watch the show. "From your fans" is great and all. But "From Brian, Sam, Sarah, Wendy and Sue" is more personal. It says "we" appreciate instead of "someone" appreciates. It doesn't limit the selection of appreciative people either, it gives the selection a face, so to speak. We're not leaving anyone out, we're just stepping forward. Just cause Joe didn't see the post or doesn't read Whedonesque doesn't mean we're shutting him out, it only means that we specifically are the people writing our names down on a list of thankful people. We can't hold ourselves responsible for thousands of others who may or may not agree. It's not like anyone will know who "Brian, Sam, Sarah, Wendy, and Sue" are anyway. The names are a stand in for us. It's a way for them to see a crowd show up and thank them without a crowd being present. "Thanks from your fans" or worse yet, "Thanks from WHEDONesque" are fine but only tell them people are watching, which they already know. The latter suggesting they have fans that they don't, cause not everyone on WHEDONesque likes Dollhouse. My $.02

Also, I gotta say it's awesome being part of something collaborative. It's been a while, and it feels good. So many great ideas and perspectives!

BTW, we broke $1000 |-)~

I don't agree with all the poll leaders, but have no issues to make against them. With one proviso: If *logistics* are a problem on whatever wins cake options, I think the person dealing with the cake (which, just to be clear, is *not me*) should have the authority to make a kind of executive override.

Of course, said cake wrangler also has every right to disagree with that assessment and just go with whatever wins the poll, period. Heh.

What b!X said - 'specially about the Cake Wrangler's discretionary powers.

Also: bobw1o - are you okay with delivering or helping us get that special bindery project to Joss & Dollhouse cast & crew as a separate entity from card/cake - to be given to them not too long after card/cake?

Don't want to ask too much of you, but it appears that there is a desire to make that something messagy & personal & creative - but as addition to the simpler card & cake.

You wouldn't have to do anything but get it to them once finished, honest. (Except put something in it, if you liked.)

Broke $1,000? That is awesome. Thanks to bobw1o & everyone else stepping up to work out the details.
I donated & voted but have no real strong feelings, other than any extra money going to Equality Now. I do think the pods would be pretty easy to do on one sheet cake, rather than 5 separate cakes, either as layers or simply iced on. It does sound like transport/set up could be a nightmare otherwise.

I'm sorry, of course I would be up for delivering the binder! At the moment, I don't see why that can't happen at the same time as the cake. In fact, it would seem to me that the binder just takes place of the names on the card, and the card has the simple thanks from all on it. I kinda assumed that's where that was heading. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If for some reason the binder can't happen same day, I'm sure I can get it there another day.

As far as I'm concerned I have 2 votes for me to make an executive decision on the cake (based only on logistics, not on personal cake design opinion) and shall not feel guilty if I do so! |-)~ It'll likely be more a decision based on cost than physical hurdle, and I think the recipients will appreciate that more money went to charity than their cake!

Too late to get a cake with a picture of an attic? |-)~

Oh, and I since I posted the polls I haven't seen any opposition to all the charity money going to Equality Now, and I have seen more support for it. The astute among you will have noticed I saiid that is why I posted no poll for charity. I think it's pretty hands down to go to Equality Now.

This all sounds good to me. I will be donating $5, most likely--I hope it didn't sound like I didn't want to donate $10 because I know that's not a ton of money or anything, it's just that, as someone else said, there are a lot of different places that are "going after" my limited funds right now and, not that the Dollhouse cast and crew and Equality Now aren't every bit as important, it's just that I can't well donate $10 to everyone or I will be short a few books in the spring semester!

And Bob, make that 3 votes for you to make executive decisions on the cake as necessary :-) When are you ordering the cake? I want to be sure to get my donation in before then!

So excited to just be one of the many involved in helping this happen.
