I know you've been thinking about it as you read. "I can so see this scene on the show. A Sarah McLachlan song would be playing in the background over a sad montage..."

So, what scenes have you imagined music for, and what were the songs? Links are helpful if there's a music video on youtube or something.

The challenge here is not just to resonate with the action and emotion in the scene. The song should also be a good fit for the show. That doesn't mean the music has to be from the same bands we would've been talking about in 1997-2003, but it should be something that'd fit into the show. The music in the show was pretty eclectic , anyway.

I think One Voice  by the Wailin' Jennys would be good for the intro montage in Buffy #11. And maybe the end of the issue, too. Buffy's made an army like her, and now she leads them, but she feels all disconnected.

Cool song, Sunfire, and I love this idea. During the Buffy years I was always listening to things and thinking "man, this sounds like a song that should be on the soundtrack." Now you've got me doing it with the comics.

Here's one from Rachael Yamagata called The Reason Why , filled with gorgeous, melancholy yearning. Feels like the sound for Satsu's inevitable separation from Buffy, (but could easily be substituted by B/Angel or B/Spike 'shippers.)

Yeah, I know you've heard this covered badly and over-played, but here's the band, Endaswap, doing their song Torn  in a much Buffy-er vibe. Xander mourning Renee...?

And last one, for now. I think this Stuart Davis song, Smoke  would make a great atmospheric background for the Wolves at the Gate arc... nighttime look-out at the castle, Buffy & Satsu hooking up, etc. The official studio version does a more dramatic build of tension, etc., but can't find it to share for free.

I've been pondering what music could go well with the vibe from the scenery in the current arc and match the emotional tone as Buffy gets her first good look at the dystopian future. For some reason I keep thinking 90s rock (but then I tend to do that). I think this might work:
