Heroes is on it's way out, they ruined it awhile back and just can't recover. It's a shame too because this show had such potential.

The stories are weak and this season they are hitting us over the head with good has become evil (and a little visa versa). They think they are clever by switching the protagonists. It would have been more clever if we had to figure it out than painting it in 5 foot high letters.

I know it's trivial but my biggest pet peeve (and one that might be ruining the dynamic of the show by now) is how they treat Peter and Sylar as having monolithic powers. Remember when Sylar killed the woman mechanic who had super hearing and it took him a little while to adjust? That super hearing would have been handy to use when he wanted to hear what vortex man was saying 100 meters away eh? They didn't even try. Remember when Peter went back to the future and knew people were hunting for him? That invisibility he has sure would have been handy. Duh. It's like he is just a fumbling moron. Hiro and Ando go to great effort to dig up Adam and then in a second Hiro can put him back in the casket? Why didn't he use that ability to dig him up? It was weird.

Speaking of invisibility, any chance of Claude (Christopher Eccleston) popping up to kick Peter's ass and remind him who he is?

ps. are they ever going to explain reoccurring future Peter's impossible scar? I am guessing Hiro and him have to fight and Hiro's sword does some damage.

I've voiced my problems with this season so far elsewhere, but chief among my complaints is the drastic and unnecessary overpowering of Peter and Sylar. Even back in season one, when I was still a huge fan of the show I was suspicious of how they could make Peter and Sylar work... how do you justify having one or two characters that have all the powers of all the other characters. The best options, in my humble opinion, were to either 1) make the powers temporary so that Peter in particular could only duplicate powers for a short time or while he was in immediate vicinity of the original wielder, or 2) make a big deal out of showing them (again, particularly the "hero" Peter) struggling to use the powers he mimics with even a tenth of the proficiency of the other heroes.

Alas... :(

Yup, they went too far too fast. They blew the entire excitement level with season one and then finished terribly.

Then they promise each season that "they've learned their lesson".
Instead it's just a different angle of a bad approach.

It might be more interesting if the characters couldn't control their abilities and they backfired on them occasionally. Kinda like nuclear guy.

The return of Linderman and Tracy/Niki Sanders has zero excitement and almost feels like it was hacked in at the last minute. Claire's biological mother could not be more dull and her last rape-like scene was creepy in the worst written way. I get it, the show is trying to pretend it's going all "dark" so we're begging for a "hero".

I can't quite figure who is going to be that hero though so that's one success.

But no more alternate futures where world gets destroyed, gets dull.

Another interesting solution in this direction, is limit them in amount like Marvel's Mimic, in which he's only allowed to keep 5 powers at a time, and for every new power he takes he have to let go of an existent one.

For how this can be impacting, there was an interesting event happen to Mimic in the Exiles series, in which to survive something he mimicked Deadpool's healing factor, which came with bonus depleting effects.

Hopefully, one of the rumored events for the end of the arc, will serve to fix this.

I really wanted to like this season but can't. Peter not using the powers he has to the best effect does bug me. And the ambiguity of Mrs Petrelli is stale, IMO. Even Sylar is getting on my nerves. First he's the ultimate evil and now he's Mr Gotta Stick With My Family guy? Too much of a turn around too quick.
And Hiro. *sigh* I loved him in the first season because he was the one guy that enjoyed his power. Like I have said elsewhere, I think they were trying to recreate some of that this season, but ti didn't work for me because unlike the first season, he had a hugh international corporation to run and his going off on a 'mission' to 'find his destiny' (which apparently includes being an idiot) just came off as bratty. If he wanted a mission, he should have turned over the company to his sister (who clearly wanted it and had the brains for it) and gone out to find other people like him and help them cope with their powers. Why couldn't that be his mission? But no, he wants to be a hero!

Yeah, they completely forgot about Hiro's sister during a set-up (Hiro's father's corporation) that it really would have made sense to include her in. Ah well, at least that absence is more fan-wankable than some of the other stuff they've forgotten about (like Peter's Irish girlfriend being stuck in one of the possible futures in Season 2, or Syler not using his Dale-the-mechanic hearing powers to listen in on Bennet and Vortex-dude is criminal, they made such a big deal in Season 1 of him obtaining that power. Sheer stupidity on the writers' parts).

What all you guys said.

I'll admit I was filled with much glee when Arthur Petrelli stole Peter's powers completely (it'd be awesome if Peter stayed depowered, became another "normal" of the show now that Mohinder is more-than-human. Or at least reduce his abilities if he gets some back. Actually, I wouldn't hate if they killed Peter off. Remember in Season 1 when he was a character? Since the end of Season 1, all they've had him doing is reacting to shit being thrown at him and looking cool and/or badass. I wouldn't miss him, save for the eye candy). I was a lot less enthused about Pa Patrelli killing off Adam Munroe, who I thought was a worthwhile character (his hammy Kensei-posing past was only okay, but I liked his "big ideas"-present-day-connected-to-The-Company villain), one of the better things to come out of Season 2. Score one for the writers for the surprise though.

As for future-Peter's scar, yeah, I'm chalking it up to a fight with Hiro that results in some sort of irreparable scar (that he can only cover up with the illusion girl's powers, apparently). Maybe from a magic sword. They seem to be introducing mystical stuff now, with Matt Parkman's vision quest/spirit animal being more outside the realm of sci-fi that this series usually treads.

I will say that, despite the many disappointments (I mean man, when this series premiered during the same season Dexter came along, I loved them equally, even though I realized this was nowhere near Dexter), I still enjoy this for some of the characters and for the glimpses of good ideas here and there. The "what might have been" is a real tease though.

I think I'll stick around to see how it ends, since we're apparently more than halfway there at this point. I think I will.

I wanted to like this season, but last week's episode was my last, and I have no intention of watching any more. I feel about this somewhat as I did with Veronica Mars' CW season. I quit VM after about four episodes that season, and I never watched it again. It had so lost its way, I thought, and with limited time to watch TV, I had other choices. I feel the same about Heroes. I feel a little sorry about this, as I, too, think that the show had so much potential. But there are better things on TV.

This article has some spoilers and some suggestions on how to fix Heroes:

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20235213,00.html

November 10th's episode is apparently going to have some flashbacks but I won't say more for those that don't want spoilers.

Personally I don't think there's anything they can do to fix this show now.

They made them too powerful, too quickly and too stupid.

I was flipping through my new Entertainment Weekly and they have a huge honking spoiler photo for the next episode (or 2nd next episode) not even labeled or with warning.

In fact even their article opens with a spoiler. Sheesh.

I'm trying to stay spoiler free (or spoiler lite) to keep this show remotely interesting.

update: it's in the online version too, SPOILERS:

(the person half-dead in the background is even bigger spoiler)

I've finally caught up. For some reason I don't think the season is as bad as a lot of reviews are making it sound like, but it's just not that good.

They've been dwelling around some material with a lot of potential, but just not delivering. The writing was never a strong point of the show, for some reason got worse, bad dialogs to weird situation.

I'm not against the show being as comic book-ish as possible, without going to 60's Batman level of camp, but attempting to push the "oh, that's so cool" moments especially in the earlier episodes of the season, they've gone somewhat too far most of those times. Onomatopoeia just for the sakes of onomatopoeia is pointless.
